This is one of those chapters that makes me wonder; what is my heart's deepest desire that, if offered to me, would cause me to really have to consider giving up something else important in my life? The only things I can think of are things that it would be perfectly possible to have in conjunction with everything else in my life, so I guess I'm in good shape. So Stannis offers Jon everything that he's always dreamed of; legitimacy, the Stark name, Winterfell, children, power, and a place in the world where he can be respected and have a life of his own. It's a pretty damn tempting offer. And as Brendan points out, if Jon were to take it, it could potentially clear up a lot of the issues plaguing the North right now and give Robb's old bannermen (what's left of them, anyways) someone to flock to and support.
But will Jon take the offer? Brendan doesn't think so, but we're going to have to wait to find out!
