Episode 213: A Storm Of Swords, Chapter 72 (JAIME)

Cersei and Jaime 2, by *cabepfir via deviantART

Hey guys! New developments over here in UNspoiled! Land...as you have all seen in the past year, Brendan's work schedule is completely unpredictable. This has led to the podcast not going up even when we already have them recorded, due to the fact that he was in charge of editing and converting and uploading.

A NEW DAWN HAS ARRIVED. As of yesterday, I, Natasha Kingston, am in charge of editing and converting and uploading AND blog posts, so hopefully things will be a lot more consistent from now on. If you guys notice any new and weird problems in the recordings, please email or tweet me to let me know. And forgive me for any choppy editing, I'm new at this!

In this chapter, Jaime is sick of being on the small council and sick of everything else as well, it seems like. There are all sorts of rewards being doled out to the Freys for the Red Wedding (and the Westerlings?! Hmmmmm). He runs into a mysterious girl who is posing as Arya Stark and will be wed to Ramsay Boltonso that Roose can cement his claim as Warden of the North.

Then there's a weirdly hurtful scene between him and Cersei, where she shows her true colors after he refuses to leave the Kingsguard and help her out. He's just about reached the end of his patience when he calls for Brienne, and once Brienne begins jumping to conclusions about his intentions surrounding giving her Oathkeeper and Sansa, he kind of snaps. He sends her away and writes the account of his time with her in the White Book, with brutal honesty.

Is Jaime growing up? Will he try to save Tyrion, does he even care? And what's the deal with the fake Arya??? Once again, a lot of questions and almost no answers. DUN DUN DUNNNNN.

Thanks for listening, everyone!

  1. When you go back and look at Brendan's predictions, you should also go through some of the prophecies that have been made and see if any of them have come true, and maybe see if we can get some awesome predictions for AFFC.

I like that for Jaime it's ok to fuck your sister on top of the corpse of your son, but not in the Kingsguard commander's cell. Though I guess it's pretty consistent for him and what he likes and hates about himself.
