Episode 208: A Storm Of Swords, Chapter 67 (JAIME)

Ser Loras in "Dude, just get over it", by ~scumpleberry on deviantART

Hey everyone, I'm sorry about not putting up the blog post sooner; this episode came out on iTunes on Monday but I've been travelling to see my Gramma who's in the hospital so I have been a bit distracted. (She's fine, btw. Tough old bat.)

So this chapter is actually a lot of fun. We have Jaime being all weird and acting like an adult, reprimanding each member of the Kingsguard individually for their shortcomings. It's very entertaining to see him go at each individual person, saying things in a way that is actually suprisingly diplomatic while still being cutting and to the point.

His little showdown with Ser Loras is pretty funny as well. On the one hand, he sees himself in Ser Loras and envies him his youth, his skill, and  his hand. On the other, he's growing up now and recognizes how cocky he seemed, how unprepared he was for the choices he would have to make, and how being "too good too young" can ruin a person's character in some ways. He manages to get Loras to think things through a little more about Brienne, though, so that was a success at least.

Part of what I like so much about this chapter, though, is getting to hear about what a total badass Ser Barristan Selmy was. The list of his valor and exploits goes on for pages in the book (at least on my version) and Jaime then goes and looks at his own paltry page and realizes how little he actually has to show for all those years being "the best". It's a humbling moment.

Anyways, next episode to follow shortly! Have a lovely Wednesday, everyone!

  1. It's okay, I thought you guys just got drunk and forgot. I always look at both if there isn't an episode on here, and it's usually up on iTunes at the correct time.

I'm happy that your grandma is okay, I hope see stays that way.
